Grupo Nostresport will be responsible for organising the Alicante Castles Race for at least the next two editions, following the award of the public tender launched by Alicante City Council for the comprehensive management of one of the city’s most iconic mass-participation sporting events.

This new chapter begins with the 12th edition of the race, which will take place on Sunday, 4 October 2026, further consolidating an event that each year brings together thousands of runners in an experience that combines sport, heritage, tourism and city promotion.

The renewal of this commitment also represents a commitment to the event’s continued evolution. Under the coordination of Grupo Nostresport and Alicante City Council’s Sports Department, the Alicante Castles Race enters a new phase focused on growth, enhancing the participant experience and strengthening its distinctive identity.

One of the first milestones of this new era has been the unveiling of the race’s refreshed visual identity, inspired by the slogan “Two Castles, One Finish Line.” The new design highlights the route connecting two of Alicante’s most representative historical landmarks — Santa Bárbara Castle and San Fernando Castle — reinforcing the bond between history, sport and territory that has made this race a unique fixture on the popular running calendar.

The visual identity embraces a contemporary aesthetic inspired by the Mediterranean, featuring a palette of blues and yellows that evoke Alicante’s sea, light and energy. It also incorporates dynamic elements that convey effort, determination and movement, aiming to connect with both seasoned runners and those taking part in the event for the very first time.

The 2026 edition will retain its traditional 5K and 10K race formats, both starting from Foguerer José Romeu Zarandieta Street, next to the Monte Tossal Swimming Pools and close to the Joaquín Villar Municipal Athletics Stadium. The 5K race will begin at 9:00 a.m., while the flagship 10K event will start at 9:30 a.m. Once again, the course will pass through some of Alicante’s most emblematic locations, with the surroundings of Santa Bárbara and San Fernando Castles serving as the race’s defining features.

Initially, the organisation will offer 2,000 race bibs, with the possibility of increasing this number depending on demand. In addition, this year’s edition will include a charitable component, while further announcements regarding side activities, sponsors and special initiatives are expected in the coming weeks.

At Grupo Nostresport, we approach this challenge with the enthusiasm and sense of responsibility that come with managing one of Alicante’s major sporting events. Being entrusted with the organisation of the race for the next two editions is both recognition of our experience in sports event management and an opportunity to continue developing an event that has become part of the city’s sporting and social heritage.

Because the Alicante Castles Race is more than just a running event; it is an experience that brings the city together around a shared goal.

Two Castles. One City. One Finish Line.
